The Facilities
This is a fairly basic campsite; you won’t find a kids play park or on site shop, but don’t let that put you off. It’s in a stunning location and it may be the old hippy in me, but it’s got a really special vibe to the area.
On site you’ll find the usual toilets and showers (both rustic and very clean), as well as washing up facilities. The star of the show is definitely the location though, and it’s perfectly situated, close to Keswick in the Borrowdale Valley.
What We Thought
So, more about that location; the Borrowdale Valley really is a true stunner and picture perfect. The campsite itself is located on a farm, and split across two fields. The primary field contains the carpark as well as the main toilet and shower block.

The second field (which we were in) is a short walk across a quiet country road and both are surrounded by dramatic hills. All of the pitches are pretty much flat, and you can arrive and pitch where you like.
There was a really relaxed vibe to the campsite, so much so, that you don’t even need to pay on arrival, campsite fee’s are collected first thing in the morning (so do be prepared for a possibly earlier than normal wake up!).

Summary
Chapel House Farm is a superb value campsite, in a beautiful area of the Lake District. We loved the no-frills feel, and had a wonderful stay. The campsite owners were friendly and helpful and the location is hard to beat, making it easy to get to places like Honister Slate Mine, Buttermere, Keswick and Derwentwater.
The chilled out vibe and great value pitching fee’s mean that this is a campsite we loved, and one we’d have no hesitation to recommend and return to.
