What did I think?
The vibrant hue of the bright pink Craghoppers Discovery Adventures Stretch Jacket might not be for all, but I adore bright colours! For Autumn and Winter walking in particular, it’s a nice way to brighten up what could otherwise be a dreary, dark day.
I’ve been wearing this jacket for nearly 2 months now, and I’ve gone on lots of hill walks and rambles in it. From traipsing across the Lancashire Moors to Great Hill, scrambling over rocks at Hen Cloud in the Peak District, through to walking Catbells in Cumbria and Autumn camping trips, the jacket has been worn a lot, and has performed brilliantly every time.
The fit of the jacket is perfect, I’m 5.6″ and find It’s a really good length, keeping my lower back warm even when bending over, and the bottom of the jacket sits low on the hips, covering the bum, which means when out for walks, you can have a rest on a rock or tree without getting the seat of your trousers mucky.
This is my current jacket of choice because it’s so comfortable and easy to wear. I love the colour and the material and the technical features mean that rain just beads off and you remain snug and dry. It’s not too thick either, but there’s still room to pop a fleece on underneath if you’re usually cold when out walking.
For me, this jacket has everything that I look for; warmth without bulk, great technical features, a nice cut and a lovely colour. A coat that’s ideal for Autumn walking and rainy days, and I thoroughly recommend it!
Best features
- On all of my technical snowboarding jackets, they vent to have zips under the arms, though I’ve not come across them on a walking jacket before, so it’s really nice to have the option of greater ventilation on warm days.
- There’s a nice amount of stretch to this jacket which makes it the perfect jack to scramble in. Climbing up trees, over rocks and through styles is made easy as the jacket moves with you and stretches when it needs to, making for comfortable movement, whatever you’re doing.
- Plenty of secure pockets with zips including a chest pocket
- Lots of adjustment options with the hood making it easy to cinch it in tight in really wet, windy weather
- It’s warm without being bulky and is great at preventing wind chill
