After well over three years of design and development Jonathan Davies, the U.K based creator of LayBakPak, has launched a Kickstarter campaign and we couldn’t wait to tell you all about it. The clever new LayBakPak is a backpack…that’s also a bed. I know right? Amazing! Read on to find out more…
Creator of LayBakPack, Jonathan Davies is an outdoor adventure fan, with activities including hiking, fishing, canoeing, camping and climbing playing a big part in Jonathan’s life. The LayBakPak came about after many years of having to suffer the discomfort of sleeping on the floor of a tent or on the sand or shingle of a beach.
Jonathan has worked with a number of designers and manufacturers in the UK and moving forwards the intention is for most of the manufacturing to be carried out in his home county of Suffolk. So he’s hoping that British backers will head towards the Kickstarter page.
What Is LayBakPak?
LayBakPak is the only product in the world that combines a backpack with a bed. Uniquely the aluminium frame of the backpack converts to a full-size camp bed with an adjustable backrest. The frame can be released from the bag without having to remove the bag contents and converted to the bed in less than two minutes. See how fast the backpack converts to a bed here.
The bag can be used with or without the frame. The bed is very comfortable and users have enjoyed a good night’s sleep when out camping. With a LayBakPak you need never lie on the floor again or carry your bed in addition to your backpack. Plus your bed does not take up any of the bag space.
This could be useful for;
- Camping
- Hiking
- Fishing
- Trekking
- Festivals
- Beach
Another unique feature of this backpack is its shape and, in particular, its slim profile. This, allied to the frame, keeps your load close to your back and hips making it very comfortable especially with heavier loads.
The 65+ litre capacity allows you to carry all the kit you need- and your bed is always with you. The two large double-zipped front pockets make access to the main bag quick and easy. There is the facility to convert the main bag into two separate chambers. There are also four large side pockets, two smaller pockets and a rain cover pocket. The harness is well padded and has a height adjustment feature.
